Summer Reading Program 2026

Reading Challenge Logs

There are 4 reading logs, complete 5 challenges on the log and return to the circulation desk to be entered to win a prize and get a participation prize of candy, a croc charm, or scented bookmark! Your reading challenge log will also be entered for a grand prize drawing.

Community Challenge:

We challenge the children of Fairview Heights to read 1,000 Books this summer! Every kid who completes all 4 logs will be invited to an ice cream party if we achieve our goal. After completing the 4 logs, you can complete our bonus logs to contribute to the 1,000 book challenge!

Teen ticket

Get a Teen ticket and a mini candy bar or croc charm every time you check out. Use your ticket to enter to win one of 5 prizes!

Spin the wheel to add to our cherry basket. Land on a cherry, get an extra teen ticket.

Complete tasks for all properties in a color group to win one of 3 small prizes.

Once complete cut out the property group, this is your ticket.  Use your ticket to enter to win one of 3 small prizes!
Complete all the property color groups to qualify for the grand prize!

Don’t like a group of properties? Skip it!
To skip a group of properties and still qualify for the Grand Prize Drawing, complete all tasks for one of the following groups:

  • Community Park: Visit a Fairview Heights Park
  • Utility: Check out a cookbook and try a recipe.
  • Series: Read a book that is part of a series.
  • Digital Railroad: Explore a Digital Service

*To keep things fun and relaxed, you don’t need to finish the book—just check off one task per reading session, even if a book fits multiple spaces.

Meet the artists

Wendy Xu is a bestselling, award-nominated Brooklyn-based illustrator and comics artist.

She is the creator of INFINITY PARTICLE, TIDESONG, and co-creator of MOONCAKES

 

 

 

 

Hatem Aly is an Egyptian-born illustrator who has illustrated many books for young people,
including The Proudest Blue, In My Mosque, the Newbery Honor winner The Inquisitor’s Tale,
The Unicorn Rescue Society series, and Raj’s Rule (for the Bathroom at School)

 

 

 

 

 

 

   

Sarah Ferone is a freelance illustrator based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Specializing in food , nature, and editorial illustration, she adds a personal
touch to every project, blending analog, inky textures with digital drawing.
