COVID-19 Guidelines and Curbside Pickup

May 1st Update – Changes to Hours and Donations

The Fairview Heights Library has a couple of operational changes to announce regarding hours and donations for our book sale.

Starting on Saturday May 1, 2021, the library will be open on Saturdays for in person browsing and computer use from 10:00am – 2:00pm. The library will be closed after 2:00pm on Saturdays moving forward.

Our hours will be:
Monday – Thursday: Open to the public 10am – 6pm
Friday: Lobby Pickup Only 10am – 5pm
Saturday: Open to the public 10am-2pm

We will continue to offer Lobby Pickup during all operating hours for those who choose to use it.

Additionally, we will be allowing patrons to remain in the library for up to 90 minutes. We will also be allowing for laptop/wifi usage in the library. In order to use this service, you will need to Request a Table once you get to the library, but they are first come first served – advance reservations are not required. Please approach a staff person to Request a Table – we currently have 4 tables for use in the library.

We also will begin accepting donations of books and other media for our Friends of the Library book sale. If you require assistance with your donation, please feel free to call us at 618-489-2070. For information on what items we accept as donations, please see our Donations page.

Computer info:
Only 4 computers will be available for a limit of 90 minutes regardless of resident status, Monday through Thursday as well as Saturdays. Computers go offline and are unavailble 15 minutes before closing time. Staff will not be on hand to assist patrons at the computer due to social distancing guidelines. Printing will be available, as well as mobile printing from your personal devices.

Masks are required to be worn at all times by patrons ages 2 and up. If you cannot wear a mask or are unable to, you can still request library material through our lobby pick-up services. You can place hold requests through our online catalog, by calling the library at 489-2070, or by emailing us at fhpl@fhplibrary.org.

Meeting room reservations are not available at this time.

Our outside book drop will be the only way to return materials. Library material should not be returned at the circulation desk. Please use the book drop before you enter the library. Items will continue to be quarantined for 2 days before being checked in and recirculated, so don’t be concerned if material you brought back is still on your account a few days later. No overdue fines will be charged while items are in quarantine. Please note, fines will be charged on overdue items unrelated to quarantine.


Patrons who are feeling sick, have any COVID-19 symptoms, or have been directed to isolate may not enter the building. The situation is fluid, and we may need to change our plans on short notice. We ask for your patience during this time as we keep the health and welfare of our patrons and staff as our top priority.
